Columbus Comhaltas

Deb Perry

One of Comhaltas’ newest branches, founded in 2014, Columbus Comhaltas continues to grow each year. Branch participation thrives on the strength of our session community, a bustling local music scene, and a desire to participate in the Fleadh. Our website, columbusirish.com, lists several qualified teachers from our membership and the branch has begun an outreach program for children interested in learning Irish music.

Branch participation thrives on the strength of our session community, a bustling local music scene, and a desire to participate in the Fleadh.

The branch also sponsors a twice-monthly session (there’s a session somewhere in central Ohio almost every night of the week), has begun an annual ceili, performs in a St. Patrick’s Day parade, and actively supports other local Irish events and organizations, including the Dublin, Ohio Irish Festival (the second largest Irish festival in the country). Our members have participated in the Midwest Fleadh, as well as Fleadh Cheoil for a number of years, even preceding founding of the branch.

06 Memories

Midwest Fleadh 2016 took place in Cincinnati Ohio and was hosted by the Riley School. Congratulations to all competitors (and their teachers, parents, spouses and friends) for all their work and support.
